Application Guides

Proven techniques for getting the most out of every product.

Granular Products (Endo / Ecto / Endo+Ecto)

Granular inoculants are the most versatile application method. Apply directly to the root zone at transplant for best colonization rates.

Recommended rates:

  • Trees & Shrubs: 1–2 oz per planting hole, placed directly on roots
  • Annuals & Perennials: ½ tsp per transplant cell or plug
  • Broadcast application: 3–5 lbs per 1,000 sq ft, incorporated 2–4" into soil
  • Bare-root dip: Mix 4 oz per gallon of water, dip roots for 5–10 seconds before planting

Tips: Ensure direct root contact. Avoid applying on top of mulch or in locations where roots haven't yet reached.

Ultrafine Endo (Suspendable Powder)

The powder form is ideal for seed coating, transplant dips, and injection applications where granules aren't practical.

  • Seed coating: Apply at 0.5–1% by seed weight. Mix with a small amount of water to create a slurry, coat seeds, and allow to dry before planting.
  • Transplant dip: Mix 1 oz per gallon of water. Dip bare roots or root plugs for 5–10 seconds before planting.
  • Soil drench: Mix 2–4 oz per gallon, apply 2–4 cups per transplant directly to root zone.

Soluble Maxx (Water-Soluble)

Designed for fertigation, drip irrigation, and high-volume transplant operations. Dissolves completely with no clogging.

  • Transplant drench: 1 oz per gallon, apply 1–2 cups per plant at time of transplant
  • Drip irrigation (establishment): 0.5 oz per gallon at first 2–4 irrigations
  • Drip irrigation (maintenance): 0.25 oz per gallon every 2–3 weeks
  • High-volume sprayer: 4–6 oz per 100 gallons, apply to root zone

Compatibility: Compatible with most fertilizer programs. Avoid mixing with fungicides or copper-based products.

Nitrogen Fix (Azospirillum brasilense)

Biological nitrogen fixation that pairs synergistically with mycorrhizal inoculants. The Azospirillum fixes atmospheric nitrogen and feeds the mycorrhizal network.

  • Seed treatment: 2 oz per lb of seed. Mix with water to form slurry, coat seeds, plant immediately.
  • Transplant drench: 1 oz per gallon, apply 1–2 cups per plant
  • Combined application: Can be applied simultaneously with mycorrhizal inoculants — they are fully compatible and complementary

General Best Practices

  • Apply at planting time — mycorrhizal fungi need roots to colonize
  • Avoid fungicide contact with inoculants (apply at different times or locations)
  • Minimize high-phosphorus fertilizers for the first 4–6 weeks post-application
  • Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Use within expiration date — spore viability decreases over time
  • Do not mix with chlorinated water — use filtered or well water when possible
